I have 23 years’ experience in the retail industry with many international brands. As a result of many years in this industry, I’ve seen a number of leading retailers in the Vietnam market who are nervous about moving their businesses online because it may eat into profits at first. I was in the same position and had experience of the online and offline full cost structure so I can understand their worries. So I realized early that the future of the retail industry will be to combine online and offline models. I strongly believe that Omni channel retailing will be the profitable pattern for SMEs and large retailers in Vietnam. It will help boost the growth of the country and maintain jobs for the majority of Vietnamese people. It will also support retailers, especially the young SMEs to get closer to local customers at minimum cost whilst being stronger and more independent. Throughout my role at Central Group Vietnam and Nguyen Kim Trading I have successfully led these businesses down to the road of Omni channel despite many challenges along on its path.
As one of the first people to explain to local leaders about the potential for the export sector to the EU via IKEA as well as to the suppliers and distributors about doing modern trade business with Metro and now encouraging the innovation with online business, I want to keep helping other retailers and customers to realize soon the potential, profitable additionally the benefit of online business. I can see the potential of the Omni model for thousands of manufacturers and brands and I desire to share with those who are interested in retailing and continuously enhance the retail of the country.
