Kelvin Tan Qungen, a retail enthusiast, believes constant change is crucial in the current retail landscape. He holds with him extensive industry experience in the convenience and mini supermarket sector, where he successfully grew and transformed conventional mini supermarket concepts into current day tech savvy stores. This included key projects like the adoption of Enterprise Resource Planning systems and Point of Sale terminals, where new business processes like automated inventory replenishment and replanograming through point of sale data analysis were introduced.
With a forward thinking mind-set and an ever readiness to embrace change, Kelvin was asked to be part of the I-Econ Franchisee Management Committee in 2009 and was appointed to be the English Secretary for the Singapore Minimart Association in 2015. He was also awarded the National Retail Scholarship in 2011.
Kelvin has constantly been approached by suppliers to conduct retail insights courses and retail trends sharing sessions to allow business partners to further understand retailers and optimise their marketing efforts. His deep passion for retail boosted his desire to share his knowledge and experience with other retailers in Singapore, in the hope that Singapore’s retail scene will soar towards greater heights.
